San Juan Bautista Church of Avila
Iglesia de San Juan Bautista - San Juan Bautista Church
The 16th-century Iglesia de San Juan Bautista contains the baptismal font in which Santa Teresa - a Catholic mystic and reformer of the Carmelites in the 16th century - was baptised.
This temple, although built in Romanesque style, was continuously reformed during the 16th century, with Gothic elements. The sanctuary and the chapels in the transept were built in a Herrera-Renaissance style. This church was declared a National Monument in 1983.
